Winner of the Woody Barlow Poetry Contest from Emerge Magazine with poem, In a Swampy Area South of Morgan City. Published Winter 2024.
A finalist of The de Groot Foundation’s Courage To Write Grant. These grants are meant to encourage and support writers as they further or complete a specific project.
The Hurston/Wright Writer-in-Residence (WIR) Program aims to provide published Black writers with dedicated space and funding to focus on their writing craft and individual writing projects.“We selected simóne and Taylor because their work is relevant to today’s times, and their eyes are on the horizon of what community looks like for Black writers."
2021:
“Poets & Writers today announced that Open Door Career Advancement Grants have been awarded to twelve women writers who are Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC). Made possible by Reese’s Book Club’s The Readership”
